The Pledge

The thing that was most interesting about The Pledge was how Courtland told on her boyfriend at the end of the story of all the things he did or tried to do to her and how her father was finally the father he was supposed to be all because of a robbery. The Pledge is about how a girl named Courtland was a "nobody" for her first two years in high school. But that all changed since she lost weight and became co-captain on the cheer leading squad. The thing that least impressed me about the book was how Coutland's boyfriend tried to rape her. He made a bet with his friend Jamal that he can get into her pants because everybody thinks that she hard to get except him. The character that was most memorable in the story was Courtland because she stuck up for herself at the end of the story and got her boyfriend in jail for trying to rape her and raping a fifteen year old and getting her pregnant. Some facts that I learned about The Pledge was how boys are not trustworthy and they just use you for one thing. This book reminds of an personal experience because my friend had boyfriend that used her to just have sex but she wouldn't let him, so he left her because she wouldn't give it up. I liked this book because it taught me how to be careful with boys because you never know what they want from you!
