Final Entry

The books that I read for reading for pleasure is The Pact, The Pledge, Indigo Summer, Trouble Follws, and Chasing Romeo. My reading experience in reading for pleasure was great. It made me want to read more in my life! My reading experince has changed over the year because I really hated to read but now that I started and found the right books, its so awesome!

The Pledge

The thing that was most interesting about The Pledge was how Courtland told on her boyfriend at the end of the story of all the things he did or tried to do to her and how her father was finally the father he was supposed to be all because of a robbery. The Pledge is about how a girl named Courtland was a "nobody" for her first two years in high school. But that all changed since she lost weight and became co-captain on the cheer leading squad. The thing that least impressed me about the book was how Coutland's boyfriend tried to rape her. He made a bet with his friend Jamal that he can get into her pants because everybody thinks that she hard to get except him. The character that was most memorable in the story was Courtland because she stuck up for herself at the end of the story and got her boyfriend in jail for trying to rape her and raping a fifteen year old and getting her pregnant. Some facts that I learned about The Pledge was how boys are not trustworthy and they just use you for one thing. This book reminds of an personal experience because my friend had boyfriend that used her to just have sex but she wouldn't let him, so he left her because she wouldn't give it up. I liked this book because it taught me how to be careful with boys because you never know what they want from you!

The Pact

The Pact was about Indigo Summer and her boyfriend Marcus Carter separating over the summer. It all began on the last day of school, when her and Marcus talks about them going off to different places over the summer. Indigo tells Marcus that she wants to make a "Pact" over the summer, so when they come back from where their going they can just start from where they left off. But Marcus thinks that this "Pact" is stupid because he trusts Indigo. Later on he tells her that he thinks its stupid because he doesn't want them to break up, none what so ever. But Indigo still wants this pact to work because she doesn't want to hurt Marcus if she does something over the summer with somebody and vice versa. So Marcus just goes along with her just to make her happy. When it was time to go Marcus barely even said a word to her because he was very upset about the whole pact conversation. When Indigo got to Washington D.C. she felt like she messed things up with Marcus, but she tries to avoid the whole conversation as much as possible so it won't mess up her summer vacation. When she gets there, she talks to her favorite grandma Nana summers about everything. Later, her older cousin comes by to visit Indigo, because they haven't seen each other since they were like 8 years old. But when she comes, she comes with her boyfreind. They all meet each other but Indigo notices that her boyfriend Darrien is checking her out, so she tries to avoid him as much as possible throughout the whole story. So in Marcus's life in Houston, Texas he stays with his mom over the summer. He and his mom gets along very well in the story. Later he meets new friends that live in same condo with him and his mom. He meets this beautiful life guard at the pool that he and friends go to almost everyday. But he soon finds out that she has boyfriend because she drives off in the car with him and gives him a kiss. So, he tries to keep his distance from her but she really seems to like him. So back in Indigo's life, she goes to adult club with her cousin and thinks she might get caught becasue she is under 18. When she gets in the club, she feels that she is alright and lets loose. When her and her cousin is ready to go, Indigo finds that her cousin is drunk, so she tells her that they cant go home because she can't drive them home because she is drunk. Her cousin tells her that Indigo has to drive beacuse she is to drunk so Indigo drive them home. But on the way home Indigo gets in a car accident and flees the accident because she doesn't want to get caught driving with out a drivers license.  When they get to her cousins apartment her cousins boyfriend Darrien puts her to bed. When Indigo gets settled on the couch, Darrien comes out and tries to touch on all her but Indigo isnt taking one bit off it. So when he forces her on the couch he starts trying to take her clothes off, but when he does that, his girlfriend finds them two on the couch. She yells at Indigo beacuse she belives her boyfreind when he tells her that Indigo likes him and she was all on him. But Indigo runs out as soon as Darrien gets off of her because she doesn't want to be involved in all the drama. When she goes outside she calls her ex-boyfriend Marcus Carter on the phone and tells him the whole story. When Marcus finds this out, he tells her that he will be there asap. Before he leaves, he leaves his mom a note on the refrigerator that he is leaving to go and get his "Girlfriend" because she is in trouble.After that, he goes to the nearset airport and gets on the flight thats leaving the fastest to Washington D.C. When he arrives there, he takes the taxi to Indigo's cousins house. When he sees Indigo on the porch crying, he runs to her and hug so tight that he doesn't want to let go. On the next day, Marcus and Indigo stays at her grandma Nana Summers house and tell her about everything that went on. When Indigo told them about the accident, they went to the police station to tell them who hit the lady and two kids, But when they told the police, they set her off with a warning and told them that the lady and two kids are alrightand Indigo is thankful for that. Later, Indigo's dad came to pick her and Mracus up because Marcus lives right beside them, so he didn't mind taking him with them. Indigo's dad heard what happened and confronted his niece's boyfreind about touching his daughter. Later when they where leaving in the car, Marcus and Indigo dropped the stupid "Pact" and went back to being the lovable couple they were before it even ended!

Indigo Summer

Indigo Summer is a book about how Indigo Summer started off her life in the new high school and her soon to be boyfriend Marcus Carter. At the beginning of the book it explains how her best friend Jade moved away from her. Jade moved away from her because Marcus's dad and stepmother had them evicted because of their late rents and light bills. But when Indigo found out that Marcus's stepmom kicked them out she hated Marcus and his family.Later on in the story she soon found out that Marcus had nothing to do with the evition, so she forgave him and gave him a chance with her because she thought that he was being a nice friend to her. Later in the story, her and Jade talked about how she joined the Dance team that she always wanted to be on when her and Jade was in middle school. Also it talks about how Marcus joined the basketball team to make his "Master Plan" go into action. Marcus's master plan is about how he aims for straight As all through high schools so he can get a scholar ship to college and doesnt have to pay for anything while hes there for four years. Towards the end of the book, Indigo founds out that Jade is moving back to Atlanta next summer so they can be best friends again. Then, she founds out that Marcus Carter is a great guy and they finally go out as boy friend and girl firend. And Indigo Summer can'ts wait until her best freind Jade moves back so the rest of her life will be complete.

Trouble Follows

Trouble Follows is book about how Indigo Summer was having a great life until everything changed. She moved away from her best friend Jade and the love of her life. She moved away because her mom wanted her to live with her grandma, Nana Summers.Indigo didn't want to leave home so when she got there she did anything and everything to move back where life was going great. She finally moved back because her grandma couldn't take it anymore, so she moved back with her mom and dad. Everything was back  to normal except that when she found out her best friend isn't the same as she was before so basically she has to make new friends. Her and Jade always talked about joining the Dance team when they got to high school. So when she found out the Jade was on the team she tried out and didn't make it. But throughout the story a teacher had a little thing for Miss Jade so every time Jade did something wrong he would put her in after school detention just so he can mess and touch her. One day after tryouts for the Dance Team Jade wasn't there because she had detention so Indigo and her boyfriend went looking for. They found her in the detention room with the teacher that was messing with her. Indigo tried to go in but the door was locked so the teacher came to the door and told them to leave because she cant be distracted or she will get more detention time. But Indigo didn't believe him so she looked back at Jade and she told her to hurry up and leave so she can go. Later on in the story Indigo founds out that the teacher is malesting her so she told her to tell her mom and dad because it wasn't right. Later, they found out it was the truth, so he got arrested and fired from the school. At the end of the book Indigo made the Dance team and became best friends again with Jade. And everything turned out to be just perfect in her world: she had the boy of her dreams, the best friend you could ever have, and staying home with her mom and dad!
